Grading System in Germany

Going to school is really different here in Germany comparing to the US. Especially the grading system. It is very uncommon to have midterms and papers during the semester.
Most classes only have one final exam that counts 100% towards your final grade.

One more thing about the grading system is that in Germany, they do not offer letter grade. Grades are given by numbers from 1-6. 1 stands for "very good"; 2 stands for "good"; 3 stands for "satisfying"; 4 stands for "just enough"; 5 stands for "lacking knowledge"; 6 stands for "terrible". In most cases, 4 is the line for failing your course.
